While still in the grip of winter, in two months we will be busy rigging the boats for the coming season.
Congratulations to Richard Reid and the crew on Zingara for their First Place finish in the 2022 North American Championship held at the National Yacht Club . Zingara also took the Gold in our 2022 Lake Ontario Fleet Championship Series. Congratulations on a terrific season.
Last year the Fleet saw several new boats out on the course and it is looking like the momentum is continuing to build in 2023. Those who attended the 2022 North American's at NYC got a full dose of adrenaline competing in a 12 boat fleet. By the end of the regatta everyone was in the hunt for a place on the podium. With continued growth in participation we can sail as a One Design division in the 2023 regattas. There are five regattas scheduled for the season, roughly one per month.
Kicking off the 2023 season is the ABYC Open on May 27-28. This regatta is a great opportunity to work out the kinks early in the season. Plan to register early to allow ABYC to plan accordingly.
Is anyone interested in combining crews for any of our events please email me and I will match up parties. Combining the crews of two boats can give a boost to the learning curve and get more boats out on the water.
